About the application:

The default video test system of Virtua Warrior involves two combatants needing to victory two of three rounds, with each round being 30 seconds long or more. Combatants utilize different attacks in an attempt to deplete the another fighter's stamina gauge and deal a knockout (K.O.), winning a round. If a hero is knocked out (or falls out) of the ring, their enemy wins the round in a Ring Out. An additional round is important if a double knockout (both users knocking each another out at the same time) occurs in a previous round and the match is tied one round each. In this round, users war on a little scene wherein one hit is enough to knock the another out and achieve victory. The primary control scheme is easy, using only an 8-way control stick and three buttons (Punch, Kick, Guard). Through different timings, positions, and button combinations, users input normal and unique moves for each hero. This allows extensive lists of moves to exist for a given hero within the limited control scheme. Traditionally, in the single-player mode, the user runs a gauntlet of heroes in the mini game (which may contain one's doppelgänger) all the method to the final boss. Virtua Warrior also owes its simplistic mini game design to a notable lack of secondary mini game mechanics, such as any unique meters or another emergent elements show in the vast majority of modern fighting mini games. In addition, every playable hero introduced throughout the Virtua Warrior series utilizes a fighting style heavily based in real-world martial arts.
