With this apk you can take a floorplan of your house, set the place of a WiFi router, and simulate how the electromagnetic waves propagate - see an example here: http://www.gfycat.com/ImportantSafeBlackmamba This is based on a latest blog post 'Helmhurts' at www.jasmcole.com, which was featured on io9, Ars Technica, the Everyday Mail, Scientific American and a lot of another blogs. This apk uses the 2D Finite Difference Time Domain way to solve Maxwell's equation on a Cartesian grid. An example floorplan is included in the app. How to use: Your floorplan needs to be a .png file, with empty place marked black and materials marked with colours. Photos will be converted into the correct materials on loading - this may take a few seconds. Pixels are mapped to 1 centimetre, so scale the floorplan appropriately. The simulation is limited in speed due to the mobile processor, so test to hold photos below approximately 500x500 pixels Touch the photo to set a router place, marked by a red circle. Choose the antenna parameters at the bottom. Set the number of iterations to run for, how often to plot the effect, and the upper limit on the colourmap scale. Choose a field to plot - the default is the out-of-plane electric field. Click run and the simulation will start. Click stop to pause at any time - this saves the simulation progress which can be continued by clicking run once more. To restart, begin an photo again. To save the simulation output as an photo, click Save at any time. Photos are saved to internal/external storage and added to the end of the camera roll. To begin recording a simulation click the record 'R' button. When the simulation is stopped a GIF animation is generated. Under the bonnet: An antenna oscillates at 2.4 GHz. The edges of the photo use absorbing boundary conditions as in Mur 1981, IEEE Transactions on Electromagnetic Compatibility. Where walls are defined, the relevant refractive indices and loss tangents for 2.4GHz radiation are used. Wavelength and resolution are currently constant, this may change in a future release. Disclaimer: This apk is not intended as a replacement for existing EM simulation tool packages. As a 2D approximation including only easy walls it does not accurately model a given floorplan. It is, however, a bit of fun and entertaining to play with.

Cedric Mamo: Good apk! Would love to have the option of having 3 antennae on the router as well (mine does), but still, good apk! 10x

Matt Bloom: Outstanding Apk Unbelievable method for player to outline their home's floor plan and optimize their wireless router accordingly. Functionality such as marking which walls are more likely to block the signal would be a nice feature. A lot of have been waiting on this apk to come to the Play shop, good job!

Casey Doherty: Nice Apk I found this apk after reading an article about it on Engadget. First off, this is beautiful sweet. I hope you receive the possibility to add a few updates, like drywall over wood/metal studs instead of concrete walls, and maybe a scaling option in apk. Otherwise, nice work.

Steven Wagoner: Fun and educational I have a 1000 sq ft apartment that has wireless connection dead zones. This apk has helped me not only determine a better place for my router, but better understand how wireless connection signals propagate. A built in layout editor would be nice, but I used the gratis ver of Skedio to quickly and easily make a compatible png file.

David Bailey: Good apk I found this through an article on Engadget, and as I'm renovating my downstairs, it has come along at a good time. I would love to see a larger ver with multiple points as I work in a school and would like to plot our existing WiFi installation to demonstrate to people why the WiFi isn't working or dropping out in certain places. Visualisation like this would be very useful.

Alberto Quinones: Really useful Been having some dead spots on my house with a fresh router and I read about this apk. Would be possible to create it a tiny more player friendly? And or a drawing feature in order to create the house layout, which can be downsized to pixels per meter, it would work good on Note devices. Another than that it's really useful. Hold it up 👆

Kyle Brubaker: Super Cool! Spent a awesome chunk of time playing with router placement in my apartment. Quite interesting to see how it affects signal intensity. I was wondering if you were planning a method to input custom reflectivity and absorption values for the walls.

Tom Ashton: Awesome fun and useful Works ok and is very simple to use. I knocked up a floor plan using "Paint" on windows (of all things!) in a few mins. E-mailed it to myself and saved it in pictures on my smartphone and voilà it worked! (I don't understand people complaining that they can't search their floor plans and think the apk will draw one up for them!?) Turns out my router was in the best spot anyway lol! Still useful to see the another awesome territories around my house though and will come in handy when moving into a fresh house. Awesome work!

Alexander Gee: Nice Want there was a layout engine to mock the floor plans though. Without that it's a tiny hard to justify practically using this. Adjustable frequency help would be good BTW.

Cred able: Good, but has problems Works as advertised. If you bought a house - look in your appraisal for floor plans. Should use 5ghz wireless network functionality. My largest gripe is pixel mapping. Why on earth map 1 pixel to 1 cm? if the max suggested size is 500 x 500, that means the maximum simulation this can handle is one single really big room. About 16 foot x 16 foot. Really..?

Jamie Parkinson: Should you add the capability for 2+ routers? Obviously this would require double the computation time but you can just superpose the respective fields. Also, is there any possibility of you releasing the code?

Marshall Crumiller: 5 GHz option? A lot of routers these days contain a 5 GHz option, which allows for reduced interference. 5 GHz of course is attenuated to a greater degree than 2.4 GHz, which would probably change the results of the output.

Michael Garcia: Good simulation program A good addition would be a blueprint builder.

Peter Van der Put: Good Apk overall The apk is good and I understand the limitations on size as simulations tend to take a LOT of ram. I search it very useful and helped me solidify the argument that our internet provider (building wide) had not properly placed routers around and I barely had signal in my flat (dorms). The reason I am not giving it 5 stars is because at home we have a 5hz system and I would like to work on the placement of that too. I also understand that some people would like to have a 3 antenna option. More as questions to the developer: Am I missing anything? I cant search a legend to know the signal levels (aka, at what colour is the dropoff enough to give you awful signal). Is it possible that in the future we can receive options to input antenna angle? Bottom line is: good apk and I would give it 5 stars if not for the 2 minor things I mentioned. As of right now I would give it 4.5 stars but google wont allow me, hehe.

Aaron Wang: Should add just a couple of more features? It is a good apk! But if might be even greater if you should add a couple of more things: 1. have a option of 5Ghz network simulation; 2. have a option of triple antenna kind. Thanks, I'm really looking forward to any modernize.

Jeffrey Austin: Difficult … … for a techno geek like myself. It would be extremely helpful to provide a site to assist with the use of the application. I don't think it needs to be integrated in the apk.

Augustus Ramos: Cool and useful!

Dan Petrovic: Easy and it does the job. Don't repeat my mistake and use a 2000px photo. Stick to around 500px as the apk author recommended in the first put. I found the apk to crash a few times and act a bit weird but that didn't spoil the end effect which is very informative. Dampening of the signal seems a bit more dramatic than what you'd see in reality. I used a separate apk to measure signal strength in some of the awful reception places and it was not as low as this apk recommended.

Philip Bulsink: Good Apk Nice apk. If pixels are mapped to 1cm, and we're to hold the photos below 500x500 pixels, then how could we run territories more than 5x5 metres?

Robert Rafel: Very nice. I've used this dozens as a network engineer to plot WiFi points. It would be good to have multiple APs though.

Drew Triebe: Lacking building materials. What's the permissibility and refraction of a hollow plasterboard wall?
User rated this game 4/5 on 2014-09-16
Dave Hess: Fun apk, but just a simulation I haven't gotten this to compete a full simulation yet, since any time other apk opens, I lose the progress on the run. Assist menu needs more content.
User rated this game 4/5 on 2014-09-11
Tim Vataev: Awesome apk. However, I think it would be possible to speed up the simulation. On my smartphone the apk uses only ~20% of the CPU (most likely it is limited to one core). Also, for the demo video it might be useful to present touches (developer option), so that its visible which buttons are pressed.
