About the application:

Using panoramic images, Yellowstone SPOTR (Sights & Panoramas Observed Traveling Streets) provides info about chosen pullouts in 2 places of Yellowstone National Park - Northern Tier (Base, Antelope Valley, Swan Lake) & Hayden Valley. Although SPOTR is an acronym, it alludes to the spotting scopes used by wildlife watchers. The panoramas are examples of what the wildlife watchers are looking at through their spotting scopes. Users: This apk can be used by: - people visiting Yellowstone NP for pleasure (first-time & returning visitors to the places covered), e.g., researching sightseeing places, refreshing memories of territories visited, reading articles written by wildlife watchers, - people going to Yellowstone NP as part of their vocation (e.g., photographers, tour guides) Pullouts & Sights Pullouts are designated territories where a visitor may pull off the street. Sights are physical features & might be a really big place (e.g., a mountain, meadow, river or forest) or might be a single object (e.g., a tree or a rock). A lot of sight names were made by the wildlife watchers to communicate places of wildlife. Some names used in this apk are unofficial & not shown on approved NPS maps. Maps The player can choose any part on the Yellowstone NP map & see the section maps. The player can pinch zoom & pan the maps. From those section maps, the player can choose a pullout. Version 3.1 content - Northern Tier Base - 91 pullouts, 209 sights, 11 maps - Antelope Valley - 31 pullouts, 51 sights, 2 maps - Hayden Valley - 41 pullouts, 103 sights, 3 maps - Swan Lake - 13 pullouts, 16 sights, 2 maps Pullout Find & Details There are 2 methods to find for a pullout - on a map or by name. After the player selects a pullout, the apk presents info, incl. panoramas showing the sights viewable from that pullout. The player can pinch zoom, pan & swipe the panoramas. In addition, the Latitude/Longitude is shown for that pullout. The player can navigate from the chosen pullout to a various pullout. For example, the player should choose Footbridge P/O from the section map & swipe through the 6 photos taken from that pullout. The player should then swipe to either Hitching Post LOO or Soda Butte Cone. The player should Find for Grizzly Overlook by name, swipe through the 6 photos taken from that pullout & swipe to adjacent pullouts. There are a few named pullouts, identified as "Lat/Lon only", where no images were taken. Sight Search The player can Find for a sight by name. The apk shows the pullouts from which the sight can be seen. For example, the player should Find for the Bear Meadow sight & learn that it can be seen from Coyote P/O, Dorothy's P/O, Old Street P/O, Buffalo Ranch, YES P/O & Midpoint P/O. The player should choose Buffalo Ranch & swipe through the 5 photos taken from the pullout. The player should then choose any of the another pullouts. Browse First-time players, unfamiliar with the names of pullouts & sights, could begin with the Browse function. The player can Browse through: - pullouts, starting at the Western-most pullout for Northern Tier Base & continuing through Antelope Valley, Hayden Valley & Swan Lake, - sights, in alphabetical order or - Latitude/Longitude list, starting at the Western-most pullout for Northern Tier Base & continuing through Antelope Valley, Hayden Valley & Swan Lake. Choosing each of these Browse functions & perusing the photos presented provides familiarity for using the Find function. Additional Functions - Spotting Scope - digiscoped photos of chosen sights - Spot Me - players visiting the park can see their current place on maps used in the app Devices & Orientations supported - devices ranging from phones to really big screen tablets - both portrait & landscape orientations & rotation between them. Test lists in portrait orientation to see more list stuff at a time & info in landscape orientation to see more of the pullout photo without having to zoom.
