Global mobile workforces are empowered with wireless access to the real-time info they need — when and where they need it — to eliminate inefficiency, enhance customer service and improve service margins and contract profitability. As work orders are scheduled the correct field engineer is notified via his or her wired or wireless device. Service technicians are armed with all the info they need to complete a service or maintenance job. Work orders are sent wirelessly from the office and contain customer acc and job website info, equipment history and contract and warranty data — onsite, at the press of a button. Technicians have the ability to capture and submit service ticket info without the need for paperwork or for re-keying into the back office system. Service technicians can review and agree assigned jobs on their mobile devices as well, increasing productivity and accelerating call response. Astea Mobile also allows technicians to manage their own schedules in the field while keeping the home office updated in true time. The solution also supports complete parts management from the field technician’s standpoint. It allows them to post parts used versus the work order, request parts if they are not in van stock, track the technician’s van stock, keep inventory and ship parts back to the warehouse or depot for closed loop tracking of RMAs and vendor claims. Astea Mobile also provides optional real-time GPS tracking. When enabled it allows Astea Alliance, FieldCentrix or ServiceVision back office players to view the current technician’s place for the purpose of intelligently scheduling. This flexibility provides the office with a more accurate reflection of schedules, job scope and resources, enabling the operation to reduce the travel time and distance between jobs. The technician can perform their job, using their wireless device, even when they are out of communication range the device will perform normally and synchronize when wireless communication is resumed. Astea Mobile also enables the service technician to communicate, via instant messaging, with another engineers, corporate office, warehouse or another predefined contacts as determined by the organization. This makes it simple for the field service engineer to stay connected and create sure that he gets everything he needs to deliver outstanding service. Christine Carothers: Beautiful awesome system The work flow of the processes should be maximized, but the apk works beautiful well. Instead of typing closure notes on the closure tab, then having to go back to activity and stop work, then go back to the closure tab to choose closure codes is tedious. I usually stop work and then choose closure codes and write notes because I don't like going back and forth between the tabs. This does not calculate the time spent writing these notes, which is only a few mins... but it adds up.

First (on samsung smartphone) buttons until today had no colour so you had to not use in bright light places or you should easily hit wrong buttons... find history always brings up random results on dates of completed jobs when searching by website, now after an modernize this morning which vorrected the buttons - i can not find in 2016 at all if i use date range....

The apk looses our customer trouble codes, freezes, and millage and over time is one heavy disaster. Our statistics on the backend is such a mess as well, not sure how u can give corrected reporting to your clients.

Kyle Boettger: Junk Begin w/ login...after 5 minutes if u switch to home screen to create a call, check email, look at service notes, read PDF, then you'll be forced to login once more. annoying non-use of the return arrow on android device devices. The moronic astea developers thought they would reserve the return arrow for a "do you want to exit the apk" shortcut. Clumsy interface, if a tele call comes in while typing you lose it all. Stupid. Not suggested.

Francois Nagel: Been using it for 4 months and still hate it. Massive increase on data usage and battery drain. Login failures with table download errors then you have to begin the login process once more. Causes massive time wasting problems on website. A 10 minute call can cause 1 hour onsite time to struggle with call closure. Unreliable reporting means you have to hold manual records of time and mileage to ensure proper reimbursal. While busy on a call you are unable to action any another call which makes realtime updating a trouble. A lot of buggy problems that needs back-end intervention, necessitates additional calls to the office that adds to costs incurred. Sometimes data doesn't pull through and customer's have to be re-visited for manual sign off for billing purposes. In short, to me, when a mobile call management application causes you to spend more time and cash than a manual "paper and smartphone" system did, it is a failure.
