About the application:

Musical Ears is a mobile application designed to assist musicians develop their auditory listening skills. Musical Ears uses active ear training principles to promote a more effective and motivating means of training auditory listening skills. As discovered through interviews with top musicians and melody professors at the University of Colorado Boulder, auditory listening skills are some of the most fundamental skills needed by musicians to truly excel in their craft. Actively developing these skills allows musicians greater ability in identifying notes, intervals, chords, and melodies effortlessly without the need for sheet music. Active training requires that a musician can not only identify which note or interval is important, but also be able to reproduce it. Musical Ears utilizes the smartphone’s microphone to process its user’s voice or instrument and analyze it to determine which note was sung or played.
