Talanoa Mai is an interactive learning resource for Oranga Tamariki staff to help their day to day work when engaging with Pacific communities. The apk uses immersive technology to introduce players to Oranga Tamariki’s Pacific Tactic and Integrated Pacific framework providing info on Pacific communities to assist staff understand more about Pacific peoples’ special cultural heritage and identity. Interactive features within the apk contain pronunciation of Pacific words, maps with info of Pacific population in Fresh Zealand and connection to Pacific national maps; common greetings and phrases, prayers and songs; proverbs, info of ceremonies; help with pronouncing and learning vowels and consonants and Va’aifetū (guardians and guardianship of stars) is Oranga Tamariki’s cultural practice program that informs practice design, review, and workforce help to best serve the needs of Pacific communities.
